1972 gt750 muffler cone removal

1972 gt750 muffler cone removal

hi guys,can anybody tell me how to remove the muffler cones from exhaust on 72 gt750,they seem pretty solid and cant find a screw or anything,do you just tap them out,any help appreciated

They are a twist and lock design and there should be a retainer bolt - after removing that bolt (on the underside) if you push on the end of the cone and at the same time give them a twist (I forget which way, but try going left and see what happens) they should eventually come off. A hot air gun may speed up the process, but try not to damage the rubber seal. 8)

Just had mine off of my 72 GT750J Just loosen the Phillips screw through the hole in the cone and twist counterclockwise. Take the screw out to remove baffle
