petcock position

Hey, guys. Finished up the Accent ignition install, decided to put some new handlebars on my 1974 GT750. These were lower than stock, but not as low as what the bike came with, so I figured it would work. Switched everything out, but the cables were in a serious bind. I took the tank off and, due to some serioursly large fingers, pulled the carbs to make working on the cables easier. After a bit of head scratching, I put everything back on and adjusted the cables. Started the bike, moved sided-to-side, everything was great. Drove about three blocks and it quit. Put it on reserve, nothing. Put it on prime, it started up and I drove it home. Put the petcock on main and it quit running before I hit the driveway. I put it back on prime, it started up and I drove it for five miles, running like a top. As soon as it is off prime, it runs long enough to empty the bowls and quits. It was running fine befor this adventure started.
It is goofy crap like this that makes me nuts. What incredibly simple thing am I overlooking?

Re-connect the vacuum hose from #2 cylinder to the petcock and all will be right with the world.

Just finished doing that. It was laying against the petcock and my blind a** couldn't tell. If ignorance is bliss, I must be the happiest guy in the world.
