Suzuki 2 Strokes

I'm looking at taking the shock apart as I need to paint it and rechrome the rest. Has anyone taken one of these apart? I'm looking at building my own compression tool to do this, but need a starting point on how these come apart. Is the painted cover compressed towards the bottom of the shock to reveal anything underneath? Any suggestions? Thanks.
