I am looking to buy a couple of dial gauges for compression and timing testing on my 750. Am I correct in thinking that I need a 14mm thread adaptor ? I would also appreciate any recommended kits, gauges to accomplish this. A fairly reliable and inexpensive kit. I was thinking along the lines of HarborFreight. But, the reviews for those gauges sold by them are not good. Saying they are very inaccurate. And the only TDC Gauge I can find on Ebay is in Poland.

You can find a decent compression tester at Sears. They probably have a decent indicator as well. Or you could shop: http://tool.wttool.com/nav/cat2/Indicators/0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Thanks, that site is exactly what I was looking for. Compression Test Gauges are pretty easy to find. But, I was having a tougher time with the TDC Dial Gauge.

Just to be sure you understand, the timing is not set at TDC. You need to know where TDC is so you can come around a certain distance away from it. That distance is different for most models. You can find that distance BTDC in a sticky in the 2-Strokes Street section.

Harbor frieght does have these at a low cost that can be adapted for setting the piston for timing also useing a hollowed out spark plug for the holder http://www.harborfreight.com/1-inch-tra ... r-623.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
