T250 Carb Information/Restoration

I am in the middle of cleaning/rebuilding my carbs. From my understanding they are VM24SH carbs. According to the Suzuki service manual I have (OE) the main jet should be #87.5, pilot #30 and the needle 4DH5 and needle jet N-6. Upon removal, my carbs have a #71 main, #25 pilot and a different needle (can't remember which one, and the carbs are at work right now).

So, question is... does anyone have any definative information on the settings for these carbs? I am replacing everything and want to get it right. I'll also be going to pod filters due to ease of removal and the fact I don't have the stock airbox.

Is it safe to just go ahead and order the parts that are listed in the manual so long as I set the needle height/mix screw to the settings it provides? I have a feeling Canadian bikes might have had different tuning for some reason (reasons unknown...). With pod filters, what should I use as a pilot? Go up two sizes to a #35 or one step to a #32.5? Keep the main the same and maybe just shim the needle?

I'll be running stock scrambler pipes, bike is a 1970 T250 II Scrabler.

Thanks for the help.
