questions about ultrasonic carb cleaning with Simple Green

Have the large Harbor Freight ultrasonic cleaner & am going to clean GT380 carbs later this week.

Have read pro & con forum postings about using Simple Green.

Some use the regular Simple Green available at Walmart.

Some have said that the regular Simple Green is harmful to aluminum, and instead use Simple Green Pro HD available at HomeDepot:
The Pro HD version lists use in ultrasonic cleaning and cleaning aluminum.

Anyone have a preference or experience with the two versions of Simple Green?

Should I use the heater?

What should I do after ultrasonic cleaning? (rinse with water & dry with compressed air) (coat with WD40) ...

I've always just used the readily available one - probably at about a 5:1 mix with water and a dash of malt vinegar. And before starting I usually rinse them down with brake wash to get heavy grease/oil off first.

I always do - but I also don't usually leave things in very long - try it both ways.

Yes - I do all three. Sometimes I do get 'fogging' on the castings - I rub them down with a nylon Scotchpad as required, or I have used a home made soda blaster to good effect.

Thanks.

What's a dash?

Just a bit of amusement on the malt vinegar. My contribution to preparing Easter dinner was to locate & purchase malt vinegar.

Well, certainly more than a smidgeon, but less than a good dollop - on my Harbor Freight unit, I suppose about two drams, but I have to admit that I don't actually measure it. 8)
