I got both bikes delivered on friday and guess what- neither bike starts so i pulled the plugs and no spark on either of them! argh! I don't know where to start. any ideas? we had a multimeter on it today and could no see any obvious problems other than a small crack in one of the coils. could sitting on a boat for 6 weeks messed with something? thanks

What's the battery voltage on each bike? Neither bike will start or run without a good battery but, having said that, the battery would have to be almost completely flat to give zero spark at the coil. If the battery is showing under 12V with no load, charge it and try again.
If it still doesn't fire with a fresh battery charge, there must be a wiring problem in the ignition circuit.
With the 500 twins and the triples, if the charging system fritzes, they'll happily run total-loss electrics on the battery alone for a couple of hours, providing the battery is fresh enough.

What do you know about these bikes? Were they runners according to the P.O?
Electrical issues are difficult at the best of times, let alone trying to diagnose on a forum....
I have 2, 75, T500M's.....one of them runs without a battery on it, the other does not, so I'm not sure if you can expect a spark with no battery power, but as Craig says, these things will run on battery power alone for a while.
Are all other functions ok with the ignition switched on?
Is there any signs of power at the points?

both batteries are good, both are brand new. the titan was apparently running before it was shipped. the indy had not been ridden since nocember and had a dead battery, hence the new one. how do you check for power at the points?

forgot to say, all lights work on the indy, all lights work ob the titan but the rear indicators dont flash, they both light up when you indicate left or right

Suggest you focus on one bike at a time or use two topics with one for the T500 & one for the GT550. Otherwise the thread will get way to complicated.
Do front turn signals on T500 flash? Turn signal problem points to incorrect wiring or a short in the wiring. If the T500 wiring isn't connected up correctly, the ignition system might be getting no power. Check ignition system for voltage with points open & closed.

ok, we will concentrate on the titan in this thread. when I push the indicator swith to the left, the front left indicator lights up brightly and both rear indicators light up weakly but no blinking from either. same when i push the indicator switch to the right (right front is bright, rears both light up weak but no flashing). I am thinking there must be a problem with the wiring to the rear indicators somewhere. could this be the reason for no spark?
thanks again, I know this is hard to do over a forum. I will probably end up paying someone to come and fix it tomorrow if I can't do it today.

Problems with ignition & turn signals might be unrelated.
For wiring diagram see this topic:
viewtopic.php?f=29&t=4743
With points open check for voltage at coils & at points.
For rear turn signals, see wiring diagram. Follow rear turn signal wires from turn signals to connector (near rear fender) then to 2nd connectors (should be in headlight shell). Could be that rear turn signal wires are hooked up incorrectly at connectors in headlight shell.
Check bulbs in rear turn signals. Might have incorrect bulbs in rear turn signals.

Jabcb- thanks mate, got the indicators sorted today. rewired them back into their original position near the seat mounts. (they were extended back to the license plate bracket by po). cutting and resplicing seemed to do something- they now flash no problems. now to see if it starts.
