Oil Drain Bolts?

Post by GreenMachine »

Hey comrades,

Very quick, possibly silly question - Do the oil drain bungs on the bottom of my T500 case need fibre washers, copper washers, a dab of weld, a squirt of sealant, anything like that?

I drained the oil to fix a clutch stuff-up a while back and now the old girl leaves a puddle of oil that drips from the bolt... I mean, I know I built it as a cafe racer, but that's no excuse for it to behave like a Royal Enfield...

Any advice appreciated.

I haven't got to my T500 drain plugs yet but I always replace drain washers on my other bike with copper washers. No leaks so far.

Thanks Fritz and Pedro - I had a poke around under there before my ride yesterday, turns out the leaky one was actually one of the 14mm case bolts that was only finger-tight. Don't know what happened there, but I torqued it back up and the issue is fixed.
