The large chrome emblems on the sides of the T500J are chromed plastic - has anyone restored them?
Cheers

Spent a whole lot of time phoning chrome platers asking if they could do plastic.
Got answers mostly along the lines of "grunt groan nup!" to "grunt groan no way!" Helpful sods.
Finally found a local business that would do it. They said "sit down before we give you an estimate". $450 to $500+ depending on the intricacy and size of the side cover in question. Mmm, maybe those very expensive ones on Fleabay are not so expensive after all.
Oh well, it's only money. As long as it's for the betterment of mankind.

Hey mate - just on thhe offchance, try a specialist car dashboard/instrument cluster restorer. 70's falcons and fairlanes have little bits of chromed plastic and restorers replace these when refinishing interior bits. I'll check with my car club and see if I can find a name.
In other, other news, a friend of mine is a custom painter/airbrush artist, and he has applied a paint that is chrome look and very good. It wouldn't fool you on a '57 Chevy bumper, but on a smaller piece it might be a winner.

Green Machine,
The folks I managed to get hold of were specialist car restorers and they said because it is plastic the price would be horrendous. I saw some silver based paint being used on a YouTube clip that looked really good but It didn't have that really bright chrome finish.
I'm going to wait till a "good" bit pops up on eBay as I don't care if the bike isn't showroom (in every respect)...if I say it often enough I'll kid myself.
