Splitting T500 Crankcases

Hi, folks. I am a new member of this forum, but had been a member of the previous forum some few years ago. I have read Rick's and Ringding's comments for years. I have owned a '72 T500J since '74, put some miles on it, then turned it over to my son three years ago. He ran it well. Now, however, we have a problem.
We blew an inner crank seal and have pulled the engine. We intend to split the crankcase halves, remove the crank, and get new seals pressed on. Unfortunately, I cannot get the crankcases apart! I believe I have removed all of the bolts, both upper and lower, removed the side cases, removed the small screws on the gear plate, removed everything that I can see that may be holding the cases together. I tapped the cases to split them, then tapped them harder, then tapped them firmly, all to no avail.
I suspect I am missing something in splitting the cases. I wold appreciate any counsel or resources that will help me with this issue. I appreciate the help. Thanks.
