Getting her started without a gas tank or oil pouch

Post by MazerRackham »

I have 10 feet of clear 3/16ths(not sure if this is correct) inch tubing. This size was the only one which correctly fit carburetors and other components. That being said my gas tank is rusted to crap. I'm sure my petcock could use a cleaning and I do not trust my oil pouch.

Has anybody jerry rigged plastic milk cartons for this purpose, just to start her? If so, are there any guidelines or suggestions you guys have? Thank you.

The only reason I haven't cleaned my gas tank and re-lined it already is because I planned on going the 'phat trakker' route and having a friend of mine tig weld a GSXR spout into this T500b tank.

I used a 2 litre Coke bottle. I taped a "handle" onto it so it would hang off the handlebars. The I found a screw-on lid with tube attached from an old Camelback drinking system. This works pretty well for me.

Thanks brother. I intend on getting her started today; the first time in over a decade from my guess. I'll report back with a video =]

Sorry the pics went sideways, but you get the idea. I used 1/4" tube.

One last question. How do I start it without keys? Are there any cables I can bypass or things I can connect with just a screwdriver?
