Post by Tamadrmr26 »

this is what I did to my oldy...
1st of all remove boot.
check the the carb slide are in line and move up and down together.
you adjust the slids by the cable screw on top of the carbs. once that is done.
then put the boot back on etc. turn your mixure srew in till it stop and turn it out by 1.5 turn..this is only a guide line!
start your bike up andjust to suit. sorry that is all I can remember.
I'm sure others will help to on this. john

Drill & Tap a hole for a screw-in barb on the right side carb body.

Now that you have one on each carb you can make your yard stick device and have at it.

I always went by the book. Make sure your plug and point gaps are in spec. I assume you are using the stock air boot and exhaust?
Johnakay is right about removing the boot to check the synchronization of the lift of the slide. I would add that you back out the idle screws out until there is no contact with the slide. With a slight twist of the throttle both slides should lift in unison. adjustments at top of carb were cable comes in.
1 Run the engine for 10 minutes or so ( take her out for a short trip)
2 Adjust both AIR PILOT screws in until bottomed then out 1 1/2 turns
3 Pull one spark plug cap off and start motor (you will have to adjust the idle in a bit to get it to run)
4 back the idle screw out until motor runs at a low RPM.
5 adjust AIR PILOT in or out 1/8 Leave it were motor runs smoothest.
6 Repeat steps 3-5 on other side.
7 With both plug cap on start motor, Idle should be a bit high. Adjust both idle screws evenly to were you like it to run.
8 Go for a short run that varies the throttle. Take note of the exhaust to see which side is more dence.
9 adjust AIR PILOT out to make more LEAN and in to make Rich
