Suzuki 2 Strokes

Hey guys,

Was fooling around with my forks last night (so to speak), pulled them up in to place with a bolt and then wound them the last few mms with the filler bolts... I was wondering whether the top part of the fork tube should come up flush with the top surface of the triple clamp, or if it should sit down maybe 5mm... Mine sits down a bit, and whilst the headlight ears don't rattle and are probably fine, I think they could be tighter... I used as much force as I felt appropriate to pull the tubes home.

What bike? I can't speak for the 380, but the tubes on the 550 and 750 are straight and should easily slip through both. Are your forks tapered on top? If not then you have a tweaked clamp -- probably the lower. I had to replace the lower clamp on my 550. I slid the first one in and snugged the upper and lower clamp. When I slid the second leg in, it missed the hole in the upper by nearly 1/2". That coupled with the bent forks that were on the bike when I bought it made me seek out another lower clamp. That solved the alingment problem.

It's a T500R... Turns out I was trying to pull the stepped part of the leg through the taper - they were well and truly home!

Also turns out that the headlight bucket loosenes was caused by the factory rubber spacers at the bottom had been replaced with a pair of O-rings.

All part of the experience...!
