In my efforts to remove all the engine cases on my GT550 to polish them up, long story short, I opened up the clutch release compartment. All this stuff - https://www.ebay.com/itm/125333840527?f ... Swnt1ijtOk
Inside the compartment was what appears to me a combination of crusty, dried old grease and some gelatinous greases but mixed with dirt/sand. I cleaned everything out but was grease supposed to be in there in the first place? Or could there have been a leaked from a seal that allowed the oil/fuel from the crankcase to seep in?
Should I put fresh grease thorough the compartment and between all the pieces and any tips when putting things back together? How do I know how far in to screw in the slotted bolt that's in the middle before tightening everything with the nut?

Re: Clutch Release - Over my Head
Thank you, jabcb. I started with the shop manual but didn't find any guidance. Maybe I missed it? Reviewing again.jabcb wrote: ↑Sat Jul 23, 2022 5:58 pm see the GT550 shop manual: https://www.oldjapanesebikes.com/mraxl_ ... /index.php
