Hi everyone,
I've split the crank cases on my GT380 to send the crank off for reconditioning and removed everything else so I'm just left with the empty cases. I'm going to get the cases vapour blasted but was wondering what you do. Do you have them blasted inside and out or just get the outside done.
Do you think the blasting material may damage the internal surfaces.
Regards,
Glyn.

Re: Vapour Blasting
I had to have my last 2 sets of 550 casings chemical soaked and aqua blasted - only on the outside. The chemicals cleaned the insides ok. Bluesmokebaz on Kettle Clinic did mine.
He actually rebuilt the bottom ends to save me a job. Money well spent.

Think of how stupid the average person is, then realise that half of them are more stupid than that.

Re: Vapour Blasting
As Alan said, vapor blasting is an exterior treatment. It changes the surface for the better.
Best description I can think of at the moment: it takes old beat-up crankcases (& etc) and makes them look new again.
Take the cases to a business that history & expertise in motorcycle engine vapor blasting.
Bluesmokebaz is a Suzuki two stroke expert — a good choice for any of the work he does.
