Any information on full fairings
Hi all I was wondering if there is a company here in UK that I might be able to get full fairing and seat unit for my GT 550 ?? I don't have any money for a while as buying a recon crank from a fellow member / administration on here . I would like a retro looking one like my hero Barrie sheen ( bless him ) use to have on his days of Fabergé racing . Would a T 250 fit or be adapted using fibre glass . My bike is in total bits filling up my front room I need a shed base so I can put my 10 X 8 ft shed on as my other is full and can't get in there either lol .

Only one ive seen is the Dunstall kit from 1975 .you may have trouble finding one though.must rare as now.To my knowledge Barry Sheene never rode a 550 except in ads.they are not suitable for tuning for more performance.

This sort of thing you mean?
Nothing from a 250 would fit as the 550 is much bigger, but the kit in the pic was designed by Dunstall for the 380/550. I even had some new decals made for it but decided to go like this instead....... Details here - Earwig build thread (clicky linky) and Original build thread (clicky linky)[attachment=0]
Looks like this on a bike (380), but same on a 550. Of course the paint scheme is yours to modify, but I've never seen another like this.
Bought but never fitted it to my 550A as that ended up completely different, but it's still here, complete with lights and full bracket set.Nothing from a 250 would fit as the 550 is much bigger, but the kit in the pic was designed by Dunstall for the 380/550. Re: Any information on full fairings
I know Barrie sheen never raced a 550 . A 750 which I believe parish n he raced the 750 then the early type RG 500s or what ever model prototype . I think stick to standard . I shall rethink this one out .

Re: Any information on full fairings
I sold my Dunstall GT750 last year and instantly regretted it. They are such a wonderful period piece.
If you don't end up with Alan's Dunstall body kit, look for an aftermarket fairing for a big bike rather than for a 250. A 550 is more or less as large as a 750 and that's way larger than a 250.
BTW, the 50 can be ported and made to run a whole lot faster than stock. Later models with plated bores have the most potential but you can very effectively port an early 550 and make a whole lot more power than stock.

Oh, I know, and mine has been tweaked!!. Skimmed, ported and polished with bespoke spannies.....
I understand the 380 and 550 kit were actually the same, but the kettle one is bigger - mainly longer.

Thanks for your message on forum and yes iam going to buy kit from Alan . I have the plated barrels but it's a long way off before I can afford porting at the moment.
