T350R Fork oil

Evening All,
I've got all the chrome back for the front end of my T350R and started to re-assemble the forks
and realized I've no idea what fork oil and amount in each leg, could someone point me in the
right direction please. I've only got an Intertec manual, I will look out for a Clymer if available,
Haynes manuals have not got a great reputation in the UK.

regards Chris

Hey Chris,

The OJB website has a copy of the T250/350 service manual uploaded for people to look at: https://www.oldjapanesebikes.com/mraxl_ ... /index.php

The specifications say that the forks hold 220cc of oil. I'm not sure if that's per fork, or both combined as I haven't changed the oil yet in my T350.

I hope that helps!

Regards,

Jim

Thanks Jim,

I'll assume 110cc in each leg and see how it goes.

kind regards
Chris

No problem - let us know how it goes! I'd be curious to verify the oil amount for when that maintenance comes up.

That would be most unusual. Manuals usually specify the amount of oil in each fork leg.

Try the 110cc and then check the oil level. With springs out and the fork compressed, the level should be somewhere around 3-4 inches down.I suspect you will end up with around 200cc per leg of 30wt fork oil.

Hi tz375,
In searching everywhere I've found another reference to 110cc/leg, so I'll try that and then check using your leveling idea.
kind regards
Chris

Hi tz375,

I put in 110cc in the leg then compressed it and found it was no where near the 3"-4", more like the first 3"-4" of
the leg was filled, so a little more investigation is needed :?

kind regards
Chris

Hey Chris,

I found a more clear source of information on the oil specifications; take a look at this Suzuki Service Data Manual from 1972 - http://www.ozebook.com/compendium/suzi/suzidata1.htm

On page 22 the manual says that the front fork oil capacity should be 220cc for each fork on a T350R. So, like tz375 said, that first manual was specifying the amount for each fork.

Hope that helps you out, best of luck

- Jim

If you pm me your email address, I'll send you a copy FOC of an 'all models' Suzuki service manual from 1972 covering everything of that time.
See below for details what you need.

For my own information, a buddy of mine told me back in his day they used 30wt engine oil in the front fork, is that true?

Who did? Anyway, how do we know what he used?
Oil spec is on the sheet above which is from the Suzuki service manual at the time (1972/3).
Use what you want, but Suzuki should know best, unless it's used differently to standard design.
