Re: GT550A top end woes
The Jemco 3-into-1 on my GT750 made the bottom end a lot stronger.
The middle “expansion-section” of the Jemco & Higgspeed pipes look different. So I’m wondering how that impacts performance.

Re: GT550A top end woes
I watched a video of the Higgspeed 3-1 on a GT750. It sounds awesome and allows centerstand retention which is a huge bonus. The mid and end section looks much smaller in diameter than the JEMCO like I have on my GT750. I’m working on mocking up a centerstand that will work with the JEMCO and will take to my welder once I have all the parts fitted like it should.

Re: GT550A top end woes
Maximum GT550 looks/coolness options: 4LS with Jemco 3-into-1, Higgspeed 3-into-1 or Zenshin 1-2 cross chamber 3-into-3.
Ouch, those Zenshin are expensive at $1,500 + shipping. The Higgspeed are $800 + shipping. Don’t know what the current Jemco pricing is.
I had wanted the Jemcos for the 72 GT550 cafe build but Jemco was closed at the time.
The restart of Jemco & the availability of the Higgspeeds has me thinking about it again:
Jemco nickel-plated vs Higgspeed polished SS vs PITA shipping from Japan????

Oh, my 550A 'Earwig' with Abbeyspeed spannies, GS550 wheels & 3 discs suits me. The (almost) standard J 'Yeti' rides nice too.

Re: GT550A top end woes
Best of luck with getting it right. I think in your case I'd be giving riding/driving up (hopefully short term) anyway. A mate of mine had to pack his job in many years ago with macular degeneration. Not good when you're a bus driver!

Re: GT550A top end woes
Possibly, but I've been offered a 'project' 550 and need to try and talk myself out of it.......
Trouble is, I've still got quite a few 550 spares and a Dunstall body kit stashed.......
