Fuel tank cap breather

So I was fixing a fuel leak on my GT550 today and realised that I couldn't dump the fuel out as it wouldn't flow down the draining tube into a jug, I popped the fuel cap up to see if I had indeed run out of fuel and it started to run like a tap was suddenly turned on. I realise now the breather is not working on the cap, I have taken the cap apart and cleaned it up as much as I can but still can't seem to get it to clear?

In the last pic, look at rivet.

In the ~ 7 o’clock location on the plate held in position by the rivet.
See the bump on the edge of that plate. That is an air passage that is likely plugged up.
Also see the other air passage at the ~ 1 o’clock location.

I have had the same issue in the past and usually a quick soak in berrymans does the trick
