T20 oil pump leak

Post by ettore »

Hi all,
I have a 1966 Suzuki T20 Hustler that leaks oil from the oil tank input banjo of the pump. No matter how well I snug up the banjo bolt into the fitting it seeps oil. I am using new original washers (from Partzilla), one each side of the banjo fitting for what I thought was to be a good seal. Has anyone used something other than the metal washers such as nylon ones for a good seal and if so where might I procure some? I am also seeping oil from the plunger guide, the gasket seal or o ring seems to be in bad shape. I have heard the threads on this item are reversed, is this true? If I take the plunger bolt out (to change the gasket/o ring) is there any procedure to ensure it goes back together correctly regarding the position of the pin to the oil pump piston? Also does anyone have an extra pump they might want to part with or know someone who might be able to rebuild mine? Thanks for any and all help.

The plastic washers were discontinued years ago. Suzuki now sells metal washers work like c**p at the low torque settings used on the hollow banjo bolts.
Stat-o-seal washers work well:

I second the use of stat o seals for that application and have been using them for years on all my bikes oil pump banjo connectors at the oil injection pump. Don’t over tighten either as stripping the threads will happen!
