Have not had this problem before.
My guess would be that you have a number of issues that interact to produce the rev problem.

Is this while riding, under load ? Did you check for air leaks on carbs and engine ?
If it runs away and won't shut off with ignition switch, put in gear and stall it with brake.

I know its been said but that seems to me like a sticking throttle valve. You say that you have checked that but it has happened to me at least twice. I found out that the little pin that makes sure the throttle valve faces the right way had come out and the valve turned around on itself and caused the symptoms you describe.

The best way to check carb slides for possible sticking is to take air cleaner off and do the ice cream stick trick.also fuel air screw to be one and a half turns out.

slides are getting stuck. I had the same issue. Check the routing of your throttle cable to the splitter (oil, throttle). Lube the cables and try to make sure the slides do not get stuck and they are seated.

Hi folks, I'm out of action for a while, but when I get to the bottom of it I will post what the problem was.
Thanks for all your advice.

Okay so I removed the air filter and rubber manifold, looked into the carbs and they were coated in brown smeg  removed the carbs and float bowls and they look like someone's taken a s**t in them. I thought I had cleaned the fuel tank enough but obviously not, so I've bought some kreem tank cleaner and liner, also getting the carbs ultrasonic cleaned,
So hopefully that'll do the trick

Last active March 2021, so the chance of a reply is minimal.
I never expect much from now posters who can't be bothered to say hello and do a basic intro of where they are from and a bit of biking experience.
Think of how stupid the average person is, then realise that half of them are more stupid than that.

brown crap everywhere? that sounds like somebody has lined the inside of the fuel tank with original petseal and it's now leeching out and through the carbs and engine. i know this happens from experience, which is why i only ever use por15 nowadays. brilliant stuff :D
cheers, dd.
