Water-pump shaft assembly procedure...

Post by pjmcburney »

Can someone help out with the order of assembly for the nylon water-pump gear please?

I replaced my slightly dodgy starter clutch on the weekend, and I wasn't sure which order the circlips and washers go for the nylon gear.

If I assemble it logically, there is a circlip behind the gear, then a washer, and then (I assume) there is a circlip on top of the gear holding it all together?
If I go by the parts fiche there is only one circlip behind the gear, none on the front/top and a washer on the front...

Is there only one cirlip in there or is there two, where does that washer go and does it really matter?
There appears to be plenty of clearance between the nylon gear and the starter clutch drive gear no matter where the washer goes.

Any and all info greatly appreciated
Cheers

Paul,

Your logic is right. There's an E clip in front of the bearing, then the gear and a washer and then the second E clip.
