GT550 crank seals

My GT550 was burning gearbox oil, so I pulled the top end and filled crankcase with diesel and Blue Devil, soaking 3 days and looking good, checked this morning and right and center cylinder empty. Now the diesel drains out the transmission drain as I fill the crankcase, not sure why it held good for 3 days now won't hold. Looks like I will be splitting cases, got lucky on a couple but not this time.

Bummer. Thanks an expensive rebuild for just a set of seals. Had to do them on my GT380, spent more on getting the crankshaft rebuilt than anything else on the entire bike with the exception of a set of Higgspeeds. At least you can have peace of mind from doing the job well.

Got my crank back repaired, I placed transmission in lower case, but when I place the kick start shaft in lower case the shaft is end heavy and lifts the shaft bushing off the locator pin, is there a trick to keeping the bushing on locator pin?

I know on the gt380 you can install the shaft untensioned. This helps prevent the bush lifting. If the GT550 is the same you, add the tension after bolting the two halves together.
