Suzuki bolts vs. standard metric bolts

Post by jabcb »

Per the guys on the Suzuki GS forum:
Suzuki bolts with no markings were later marked with a “4” ==> Metric 4.6
Suzuki bolts marked with an “S” were later marked with a “7” ==> Metric 8.8

Bolt Depot has a good selection & sells individual bolts. https://www.boltdepot.com
McMaster also has a good selection but sells in quantities. https://www.mcmaster.com
Both charge shipping, and ship same day or next day.
McMaster has more JIS bolts & nuts. The zinc plated metric locks washers from Bolt Depot look nicer.

Recently bought crankcase bolts for both cafe builds.
Needed a few odd sizes that I got from Suzuki. Other than those bolts, is there any reason to get the more expensive Suzuki bolts?

The important bolts were marked with an 'S' because they had to be torqued to a specific setting
