I have just bought -76 model suzuki gt250 and i have come a cross to first problem.

Exhaust threads in the left cylinder have been stripped so i cant put exaust pipe in cylinder.

I have already tried thread file to file threads but it didnt help.

Does anyone have any tips how to fix this problem????

thx for advance!!!

There are tools to repair threads like these, but you can make it worse if you use them incorrectly. Depending on your skill level, you might find that the best solution is to take the cylinder to a shop that has the experience + the tool. (I would take it to a bike shop that works on older bikes.)

Some members have had similar problems. Here are two old topics about it.

jab and cleaf, no matter what tool you use you won't repair worn threads. once they are worn they are gone and using the proper thread file you will cut the threads deeper and they will look better, but the exhaust ring will still push on the threads and won't tighten up. i'm working on this common problem atm, and the only way i can see round it is to mill the threads right off, so the exhaust stub is smooth, then put a threaded sleeve over the shaved stub, fastening it with grub screws. there must be thousands of barrels either thrown under benches or scrapped because of this problem. there are engineering firms that will tackle this for you, but for the cost you may as well buy some more barrels. :(
cheers, dd.
