76 GT500 Petcock??

Post by jojob »

I have a 1976 GT500, and I am needing to get a petcock for it. I'm not having any luck finding one to match specific model. Is there another model that I can search for, or another year and model that will fit?

NOS is available but really expensive! How about this as a cheaper alternative?

Is that really the best option besides the NOS ones? Since it has the 750 tank, can't I just get one of the 750 petcocks? I noticed some of the 750 ones on ebay have the 2 outlets, instead of the one outlet. Just trying to figure out the best & cheapest way to do get one.

Early GT750 petcocks have 3 outlets & later ones have 1 outlet.
You could get a later 1-outlet petcock and use a fuel line “T” or “Y” fitting.

It has become pretty annoying trying to find one that matches. Most of the ones I find are 34mm, and I am needing 44mm, I believe. Even the ones that have the matching numbers with the exact replacement ones. How can I know if they are 44mm, if they don't say it?
