This is for the GT550 cafe build.

I have the clutch cover off and need to disassemble the points cam assembly.
Didn’t find any guidance in the shop manual. What’s the best way to do this?

http://www.alpha-sports.com/suzuki_parts.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Look at year = 1975 (M)
Contact Breaker - Nippon Denso (doesn't matter if you have the other, this shows more detail).
Don't lose item 29 - pin!!!
It locates the 'propeller' and points cam.

How do I stop the shaft from turning when I remove the cam nut?

Wrap the inner end in a cloth and hold it with pipe grips, or just put the cover back on the engine and line up the cutaway. You won't have to hold it then.

Thanks.

The crank is getting rebuilt & I need to get the cover polished + clear coated. So I’ll give the other method a try.

Turned out to be easy with a tool that I already had.
Used an adjustable hook spanner, a Proto C472, that looks like this:

Now that I have the cam drive out,
(1) how do I get the tach drive out, &
(2) how do I get the bearings out without ruining them?

The tach drive was easy. Just attached the old tach cable and used it to pull the tach drive out.

Any tips on getting the bearings out without ruining them?
