Suzuki 2 Strokes

I have the float adjusted so that the fuel level is spot on when you hold the carb horizontal. Level is same as shown in this pic.


The carb leans forward a bit when installed. With the combo of this lean + the bike on the center stand, the fuel level is below the gasket so there is no leak.

The float bowl was warped a surprising amount. I filed it down fairly flat but not perfect. When using a new gasket, the sealing bump on the carb body leaves a permanent depression in the gasket. There are no missing spots in the depression due to a warped bowl.

The carbs now leak a smidgen when on the side stand.
Any suggestions?

Don't run the bike when it's on the sidestand?
Do you have a vacuum operated tap or a non vac type?
Do the carbs leak when the bike is running, or all the time?
If all the time, the fuel levels are too high.

No leak when the bike is upright or on the centerstand. Leaks a smidgen when its on the sidestand.

I have a vacuum tap that doesn’t leak.
The float level was set per the spec & the fuel level was confirmed to be correct as shown in the pic.
The fuel level is below the gasket when the bike is upright.

When on the sidestand, the T350 leans over more than the triples. This causes the fuel level on the low side to be above the carb gasket.

I checked one of the bowls this morning. One side could use a bit more work, but it wasn’t leaking from there because that location is on the high side when on the side stand. Could it be leaking thru the slight filing groves? May I need to use sandpaper?

If only there were some sort of spay that would make new gaskets stick like the old ones sometimes do.

Make some 1/32 viton gaskets. Gasket supply shops will have it and probably give you scraps. I have them in my 750 and have had the carbs apart many times. They last a long time.

At my skill level, I think I’d have to give a NOS stock gasket to the gasket shop & have them make the viton gaskets.

I’m going to try sanding with bowls on a flat surface. An Amal carb expert on the GS forum recommended 80 grit & I found a post recommending 320 grit. So I’m using 180 grit.

To make the viton gaskets all you need is a punch large enough for the screws and a pair of scissors. The stuff is easy to work with.

Problem solved. Now runs on the sidestand without leaking a drop.
Used 180 grit and a stock Suzuki gasket. Decided to give this a try & then go with viton if it didn’t work.
