Suzuki GT250, gearbox not working.

Hi,

I have some serious problems with the bike I´m trying to get on the road again. Gearbox problems that is.
First question I hope someone can verify. Should the mainshaft 5th gear (Brown one) be able to slide along the axle? I´m guessing so since the shifter fork thats holds it, moves in a trace on the drum that goes sideways. (If that made some sense...)

Image showing trace going left for the fork holding the 5th gear.

If I can get this verified I´ll try to heat it and give it some whacking to try to loosen it.

I don´t have any history on when the bike last worked, but forks and all looks pretty good. (trying to attach pic later)

Thanks,
/Peter

Yes should move in and out of dogs with gear beside it .

You can prove it to yourself by looking at pictures of GT250/T350/T305/T250 and GT380 "transmission" on eBay (USA?) you will see some in various positions.

Some nice sets up there. Also here is pick of the driven 5th gear

Thank you for that.

Yes, gear also seems to have a channel on the inside for oil access. Shaft is in fridge now and I´ll try some gentle heat and force to free it later today.
