Ok, call me perplexed. Trying to figure out how to remove the lock mechanism from my 1974 GT750L gas cap so I can exchange it with my new gas cap and keep the original key. There must be a good trick to do it and I'm exhausted trying to figure it out. Can anyone shed some light? It would be greatly appreciated.

That was perfect. Took both caps apart, swapped locks and then buttoned both back up. Not a single spring lost and there are technically three springs in the latch and lock mechanism! Thanks for the help.
