I am looking at purchasing a GT on which the current owner is in the process of re-building the engine. While the engine was/is apart for vapor cleaning etc and with the studs removed the barrel face was checked for level and was found to be slightly out with an apparent dip in the center. As a result the face has been machined level, see attached photo.
The owner is now very uncertain as to the impact of what the removal of this amount, .007", of material has or will have? Clearly the ports will be dropped down by .007" and the pistons, relative to the top of the barrels/head, will be raised by a similar amount and as a result there is going to be a slight change in the port timing and a slight increase in the compression ratio. There will also be a slight increase on the compression of any case/barrel o-rings.
The question is what if any changes/impact will this have on the engine port timing, compression ratio and engine timing is any? Would the increase in compression be detrimental to the engine and would the ignition timing need to be altered to compensate for this? Or is the removal of only .007" not enough to worry about?

Negligible.Maybe if you had a squish band head it could be an issue.
