Suzuki 2 Strokes

I mirror polished all the hubs, brake drums and front/rear brake plate of my Suzuki GTs (380 B, 750 J and M series).
The answer is: originally there was a transparent paint on this items or only for the late series?

They all came with the clear lacquer on the aluminum parts going back to the early sixties, I have yet to see a brake plate or engine cover that didn't have the clear coat.
