Carb Slide/needle assembly Q.

GT500 Carb throttle slide, the needle/cable adaptor plate (that's screwed into the slide from the top) can be assembled 2 ways, one way a 3-4mm hole in the slide is left uncovered so air could pass from below the slide to above it and vice-versa.
But if the plate that holds the needle is assembled rotated 180 degrees, the plate will cover the hole.
Which is correct?

Hope nobody minds, but I'm pumping this back up in the hope that someone knows about this mystery hole in the carb slide.

Don't know on the 500 but on the 550, that hole is open. On the 550 (74-77), the slide lifter rod can not be rotated 180 to cover the hole.

It really doesn't matter. What is important is that the clip keeps the throttle cable from sliding down the notch, and coming out of the slide.

It doesn't seal any of the holes in the slide.
