GT750 front brake caliper rebuild - HELP

Post by ChrisK »

I am rebuilding some GT750 calipers (early model) that I stupidly pulled apart without taking note of where the o rings and rubber boots on the caliper pins went. I have got new ones but the only diagram I can find online doesn't specifically show which of the grooves in the pin the o rings sit in. Any help appreciated!

There are 4 grooves on the pins, the o-rings go in the two 'middle' grooves - that is, grooves 2 and 3.

Wrap a turn of tape around the threads and the groove nearest the thread before fitting the o-rings, it makes it a lot easier to slide them up the pin without snagging them. And don't forget lots of red rubber grease on the pins before fitting the caliper halves together to keep them moving freely

The boots go in both sides of the center 'carrier' part. Some guys omit them as they are just dust shields. Not me though. This was early in my last rebuild
