Hello - It would seem that Sris strainers have vanished off the planet. Is there a supplier who still has these or a remanufactured equal type of strainer?

From what I've heard they are unavailable, even aftermarket. Most people, like myself, just remove them for good. Occasionally they pop up on ebay for mucho $$$$$

Oh well, worth a crack. If you removed them from the crankcase and plug up the threaded entry point which is not a problem, how do you plug off the tube points on each barrel?

Ironically, I did that just this morning. Go to the auto parts store and pick up a box of assorted vacuum caps (cheap!). The box I bought had four 1/8 caps in it. the smallest they had. They were a little loose so I smeared some RTV on the fitting and in the cap. Then just shoved them on.. If you could find 3/32 caps, no glue would be needed. There is no pressure on these in either direction. All you are doing is blocking off an air leak. They were a little long so I snipped some off the open end.

Keep an eye on those Chris. Momentary pressure peaks at almost 2 Bar at the instant the transfer port opens at high RPMs. Average pressure is low though 0.8 - 1.2 Bar at peak revs and much lower at lower revs.

Will do.
Other methods I have seen used, one was to use a short length of SRIS hose with a plug in it. Another (and probably the safest) was the fitting pinched shut and the remaining slit soldered over.. The problem with that method is it's not reversable

Oh yeah Syd, I forgot to mention I have these. The attached valves were functioning just fine. Make me an offer!

Thanks for the info on how to block off the tail fittings on the heads. Your set of valves with strainers look ok, however why are you not using them?

I ran the system on my last 550. This time I committed it just to avoid the extra plumbing. That plus I thought I might get some return on my investment with the ultra-rare SRIS filters

New to forum, I've just picked my GT550 engine after 4 yrs in shop, had a few set backs health wise. Main thing want to do is get it in and started, engine has been rebuilt, new pistons, crank seals. Since its been in and I moved noticed that I don't have the full SRIS, missing the 3 lines under the headers, where do they go to and are they necessary, any help appreciated.

The lines and 6 clips are still readily available from Suzuki. You need one line #09343-02008, 2 lines #09343-02009 and 6 clips #09401-04401. Get a manual to see a map of how they run or I can post one if needed. Look at the photo above for the one that's capped off for the location of the hoses. All 3 cylinders have this fitting You will need to remove the carbs to get at them.

That would be great if could send me diagram, so when capped off what lubes the pistons? Do you cap off the b3 nipples front of engine under headers as well as under carby. When capped off what happens to oil from pump? Please direct the best way possible. I can message photos if need be but don't have access to computer at moment.

The oil pump lubes the pistons and bearings, not the SRIS.
It stand for Suzuki Recycle Injection System and simply moves any oil in the crankcases to another cylinder so that the bike doesn't smoke too much after a lot of town running.
Suzuki knew a few things about 2 strokes, so I would recommend keeping SRIS.
The filters were deleted on later models as there shouldn't be any crap down there to cause issues.
Do not be tempted to run a Suzuki triple with premix fuel as you will seize your crank and pistons quickly.

OK, thanks for that. So one I get the tubes that run from the front past the starter appears to feed through a grommit that he 3/holes where to from there. On the oil pump is 1 single hose from top not sure what that is for. Sorry to be pain. Hopefully can get it going by April 10 yrs since inherited from Dad. What's the best book to get

Lots of guys block off the SRIS.without issues other than a little extra smoke after a prolonged idle. To block off the valves on the crankcase, remove the valves and replace with short 8mm bolts. Use the sealing washers that were in the valves. Block off the uppers with caps as viewed in the thread above. Another method is to use short pieces of line with plugs. DO NOT leave them open as you essentially have a huge air leak. They must be plugged.
Use the map below if you plan to retain the SRIS. This is as viewed from the rear. The left is always as sitting on the bike NOT as viewed from the front!
