GT500 Steering Head Bearings, Fork dust covers?

Post by joolstacho »

I've been trawling around for these parts, maybe someone has ideas.

Fork dust seals, -seem hard to find, there are plenty of options for fork seals, but I haven't found the dust covers yet. Any ideas? I've seen reference somewhere to someone in France who has made reproductions... ring a bell?

Steering head bearings. I see the AllBalls 22-1005 set, but sometimes these bearings are available from 'your local bearing supplier' MUCH cheaper.
Anyone found them at Bearing Services / CBC (for example -I'm in Oz).

(We're talking '76-'77 GT500)

Cheers,
Jools

I have set 22-1005 slated to go on my GT550. The package also lists your bike on the label. Continue to search eBay as the are not all priced the same. I picked up this set for $2836 with free shipping. You will make yourself crazy trying to source these on the outside. I think the race OD's are a bastard size.. I don't know about the 500, but the 550 requires some machining on the sreering stem to accommodate the upper bearing. %00 probably does too.
As for your dust boots, this outfit shows them as available but I believe I would call them to verify before ordering. http://www.speedsupplies.com/parts/suzu ... -34110.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I was born with nothing and still have most of it left.

A member here from France makes repro fork dust boots. 'Francois" I think is his name. They look and fit like OEM boots, mine are still in good shape after 4 years.

Unfortunately Speedsupplies no longer have the dust boots, they're still listed on the site but dig deeper and they say they're no longer available.
Does anyone have any idea if fork dust boots from any other model will fit? What about GT550 / 380, GT750?
(I've ordered AllBalls fork seals and taper roller head bearings). There is someone on ebay offering fork dust boots for GT500 but they are clearly the types that push inside the top of the fork slider, not over the outside it. May fit but not original obviously.
