77 GT 750 Taper steering head bearings?

While I Have the Motor out on my Other 77 I was thinking of installing the taper steering head bearings on the Bike.
I know on The kawi triples they leave a gap between the upper tree and fork ear.
By installing these bearings will this occur on the GT 750?

Yes there will be a gap. I fitted them on my GT750. You can put an extra O-Ring in to fill the gap. There are some postings on here about that.

Don't know about the 750 but I did it to my 550. Had to turn down the steering stem to fit the lower bearing cone, but other than that didn't have to get too creative!! The other thing I did was drill, tap and put a grease fitting in the frame to grease the bearings.

To effect a proper fit and get the headlamp ears correct the lower inner race needs to be ground down about 2-3 mms before its put onto the steering stem.
