Suzuki 2 Strokes

I got this GT380 a couple of months ago and it was knocking a bit and I knew that it needed some work on the crank but I didn't really expect this. The seals as far as I can see look okay and the other bearings seem okay too but what I'd like to know is, do you think I could replace just this bearing at home without having to send it away for dismantling?

It's knackered and could have compromised the shaft.
Take it to Crooks at Barrow in Furness, they know Suzukis inside out.

They got me in trouble many years ago.
I visited Crooks with my original GT550J in 1972, and ended up in North Lonsdale hospital with a broken leg after an accident on the bike.
The staff there - (including 'young' Martin as he was then) - got a load of bike mags and fetched them for me to read while I was in there for a couple of weeks. The ward Matron checked them and found several porn mags hidden away in the pile and gave me a right bollocking even though I knew nothing about them.
I spoke to Martin last year when I was working up there and he remembered all about it.
I called him a git and we had a good laugh.
As you say, excellent customer service, but one of their 'people' back then took my 550 for a test run and the tyres were feathered right to the tread edges. Frank Whiteway was grassed up for that heinous act at the time, but I never had the pleasure to meet the guy. Saw him race a few times though.

Frank used to teach me toolmaking at college around 1978 when I started my apprenticeship. I must admit I didn't appreciate his achievement at the time, same goes for Les Trotter, who lives just up the road. If it wasn't Barry Sheene or Kenny Roberts back then I didn't want to know. Fickleness of youth I suppose.

Although it's gone now, North Lonsdale had an awful reputation at the time for setting bones. I hope your hands and feet are still pointing in the right direction!

Regarding the setting bones, I broke the fibula and tibia (both bones below the knee) right leg and they managed to stick one to the other and left two ends 'spare', then the quack went on holiday to his native Egypt.
I had to have my leg rebroken three weeks later when I got back to Barnsley Becketts hospital ( now gone) which was less than painless, and I have a reminder of a large lump on my leg where it was repaired.
(For the less than clean minded, it wasn't THAT sort of lump.)
If it happened nowadays, there'd be a claim, but then.........

Les Trotter.....what a top bloke ! Had the pleasure of meeting Les many times now, both at the Classic on the IOM, and at Chimay. Lovely fella.....had some serious health issues recently, not sure if he is still racing, or finally hung up his leathers.
Met Frank with Martin at the opening of the Suzuki exhibition at the Manx museum Douglas in 2010...another smashing bloke. Their achievements were outstanding !

Les was with us at Pembrey and fairly fit now he has had a bypass and still enthusiastic and yep he is one of the good guys.

wise advice regarding the bearing if you are not sure but that could be changed easily
