Got these bad boys to remove the infamous master cylinder circlip. They are perfect for the job, and available from:

I've also seen them on eBay UK for our friends across the pond.

cool, :up: you cant beat the right tool for the job.

The other way to get that pesky piston out is to remove the banjo bolt and fill the thing with wd40 or your favored release agent. After leaving to soak for a while, insert a pin punch through the banjo bolt hole and gently tap teh piston out.
Gently tap? I wish; I've had some pre-abused ones that I had to beat out with a drift from the outlet hole side hoping the bore was not damaged as the horrible looking piston slowly came out soaked with my favourite release agent.
For cleaning up the whole body for repainting I've used the glass bead blaster moderately, even in the bore, followed by some #600 then #800 water sand rolled up and turned in the bore with WD40 as a lube.
So far all the ones I've restored have been working fine, naturally if the bore is deeply pitted its history.
Two strokes, its just that simple.

Don't waste your money on these circlip pliers (see my previous post). You can see from the pic that the tips break off easily. I have gone through two pairs of these now and both failed on first attempt to extract the dreaded circlip. I am now looking for a better tool.

It is a snap ring style clip and not the type with the holes in the end?
At least like looking at mine that's what I see. With any of these pliers his do you compress it to get out of the channel? Seems like the pliars would just shove it deeper in the groove?

Internal long nose snap ring pliers. And yes, there are holes in the snap ring for the pliers. Yours bust be clogged up making the holes not visible. Look up the MC on any fiche and you will see how the assembly works.
