First dumb question

Post by djfisher22 »

72 J model.Pipes are nice but lacking baffles and cones. My buddy has some baffles from a set of 74 pipes. From my limited research looks like dealer says they are different, but bikebandit appears to think they are the same.Anybody?

I just googled the dealer part # to come up with that info from bikebandit.............

According to my part lookup, baffles are good for all years:

Inners:

Part # = 14610-31000
Part Description = PIPE,MUFFLER CENTER BAFFLE

GT750-B 1977 738 GT750 LEMANS STREET

Cones for the outer pipes are larger than the inner pipes, therefore different. But you probably knew that:

Larger-

14860-31000
COVER, REAR

Smaller-

14880-31000
COVER, REAR CENTER

If they are missing, don't forget to get the rubber gaskets that are behind the cones, you will need those- very necessary.

14869-31000
CLIP, MUFFLER REAR COVER

14889-31000
CLIP, REAR COVER CENTER

There's a guy in Australia that makes perfect repros of the outer cones for US$ 85 plus shipping. He is on fleabay quite regularly. It's not likely you will find them at a dealer, because I think they've been out of production for some time. There is no mention of any inner cones yet form the guy. It's worth the hunt, because the bike just doesn't look right without them.

Here is a good online look-up parts fiche resource, it is complete with all the numbers, not just the ones still available:

http://www.alpha-sports.com/suzuki_parts.htm

They're prices aren't the best, however. ^

If you can find stuff available still, here are two good places to check for parts other than your dealer...

http://www.motorcitypowersports.com/fiche_select.asp

http://phoenixpowersports.com/fiche_select.asp

Here is another good place to explore for info on your bike...

Need any help, PM me and I will try and lend my limited ability to the problem.
