72 GT550 Loose Baffle Plate

Post by lymbic »

Removed exhausts to clean up baffles and polish the externals and I heard something loose in the left muffler of the middle exhaust. Looked down the section of the muffler that gets clamped to the Y section of the header and saw the baffle plate nearest to me free from its welds.

I know it would be a pain to fix, so I'm curious if anyone has rode with a loose baffle plate like this? Worst case I could think of is this pipe won't have the exact back pressure for optimal performance, but the bike is far from perfect right now.

Yep, common problem for the 550 and 380 anyway, my 380 has all the baffle plates laying down in that pipe, doesn't affect performance just lets the 2 stroke noise out better
