Gearbox brake arm

Post by Glyn.G »

Hi Again,
I have been rebuilding the gearbox on my GT380 and I seem to have reached an impasse. The friction material on the transmission brake arm has virtually worn away. I have acquired all new bearings, seals, thrust washers etc from Discount Bike Spares but they tell me that the transmission brake arm Part No 24640-33000 is no longer available. Has anyone else had to deal with this problem and if so how did you fix it ? When I initially split the casings the arm was actually missing so I got hold of one on ebay. Is it possible to run the engine without this arm in place, I'm at a loss.

Partzilla says that part number is superceeded....

http://www.partzilla.com/parts/detail/s ... 33000.html

Of course, it also says it's obsolete, but at least it gives you another part number to search for. Check with Robinson's Foundry in England, and all of the other usual sources (Paul Miller etc).

If you stroke it more than twice; you're playing with it.

Too many bikes, too much time, ENOUGH SPACE, FINALLY! Never enough money.........
