T500 crankshaft middle
Picked up a dismantled bottom end at the weekend crank already pulled a part. Crankshaft middle (the centre shaft) has noticeable grooves worn in it by the seals. As they are no longer available, anyone had one resurfaced?

Re: T500 crankshaft middle
Hi, they make sleeves to fit over shafts that need repair, there very thin and your standard seal will fit. I bought 2, one is for ignition side and the other for center, these are the #'s skf99098 and national99114. SKF call them speedie sleeve and National call them readi sleeve. Hope this helps. Ken

Hello akendall1966,
Pete Odell (member of the forum) is a specialist on the T/GT500, via his bike shop http://www.themotorcycleworks.co.uk/ he has reproductions of the centre and outer main bearings. I have a set in one of my race engines. No, they are not cheap, neither are NOS items (if you could find some). If you have to replace the bearings though he will probably be able to help out.
Cheers Geoff

Re: T500 crankshaft middle
Thank all,
Speeding sleeves are interesting will look into those.
Geoff I know Pete he has the crank from the bike I am working on now. It's not the centre bearing but the shaft its fits on. The lips of the seal have worn grooves into it deep enough to feel with your finger nail. Seems like asking for trouble to put new seals and bearings onto a worn shaft.
I remembered yesterday Philpots over in Luton who trade as pitted forks they have hard chromed fork tubes for me. They also do metal spraying as a part of thjier shaft reclamation business.
