Re: 71 T500 petcock options
The Pingel vacuum petcock has a single outlet. Am using a T connector to supply two carbs from a single outlet.
Pingel can make custom petcocks. I did't check to see if they will make a dual outlet vacuum petcock.

Re: 71 T500 petcock options
I have got a spare NOS one for way way less than that. I can send it to just about anywhere for $245 plus postage.wvc wrote:

I put a Pingel one on my T500 and don't like the fact it is very stiff to operate. I'm going to pull it to bits and see why. It was OK when new. I have very bad arthritis and can't operate it sometimes.

If you're not concerned about originality, Reproduction Decals in Canada have 3 or 4 petcock styles that will work. I've got them on my T500 and my T350. They work just fine and are way cheaper. Just plug up the vacuum port on the carb.

Re: 71 T500 petcock options
I am working through the Petcock leaking issue as well. My only concern with using a NON EOM petcock is that they don't have the boost tube as referred on page 65 of Haynes manual and on pg 64 they refer to it as the vacuum pipe. The manual says if that tube has an air leak it seriously affects the operation of the diaphragm and the left hand cylinder.
why is the left hand cylinder only affected? It seems to me that that boost tube or vacuum pipe does more than just make the diaphragm work. I spoke with the Suz dealer and they thought it might help with low idle gas distribution.
Any thoughts?
How are your aftermarket petcocks working? How is your low idle? Do you find yourself giving it lots of gas at stop lights and for take off? Not just because it's fun but to keep it running good.
I bought what I think are all the parts to rebuild the OEM.
09180-08189 Spacer
09160-09135 Fuel cock gasket
44346-10050 cock cleaner gasket
44341-18450 rubber gasket with 4 holes 20mmx2.5mm
44344-31050 cup cleaner
44346-31050 cup gasket
09401-10401 hose clips
hose
and will fit filters between petcock and carb
thanks

Re: 71 T500 petcock options
Don't over think it.
The "Boost Tube" or "Vacuum Pipe" is just a vacuum line between the petcock and the carb. Engine runs, vacuum is formed that pulls diaphragm on petcock, gas flows. Engine off, no vacuum, no flow.
If there is an air leak, no vacuum to petcock and big lean condition at left carb (now much more air than gas).
Simplest thing to do when replacing the petcock with a standard, non-vacuum operated one, is just put a vacuum line cap on the carb to seal where the vacuum line was attached. Holley 26-105 Vacuum Line Cap Kit

Or - if you are a little bit lucky, you can repair the old fuel cock. And don't forget that vacuum line has a check valve in it eh ? Take a look at this previous thread: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=7112&start=60#p133968" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I have posted this before. You don't need to spend mega bucks on a petcock. Here's one for $30. It has 3 outlets and comes with one outlet plug. You may need the adapter plate / nut at an additional cost of $7. Just follow this link. It's about 2/3 down the page.

This may be a good alternative for me. The 73 GT750 petcock is around $250 when you can find it. Chris do you know which adapter plate I would need for the 73 tank? Thanks //Pat

44mm. Let us know how it works out and what kind of quality it is. I have never used one but I've had my eye on it for years. When I had my Buffalo, I ordered a bunch of parts from them. It's a reliable source. I got a gasket set, a seal set, and 4 repro turn signals. Quality on everything was excellent. $10 per turn signal was a steal. Even had the bulbs. I don't know how much they are now. That was several years ago.

Re: 71 T500 petcock options
I just scanned their site. Apparently they don't sell the repro (77) turn signals anymore. I did notice they are now carrying a lot of electrical / harness blocks.
