oil pump seal question

Post by Eddie »

I took the gt750 for a ride today, (I am still waiting for the oil pump cover gasket from reiner) after the ride I checked the oil pump, and I cant tell if its leaking from the cover or from the arm on the oil pump? it is a very small laek at normal throttle position, but at wide open it seems to leak more, but still not exsessive. The question is does anybody know where to get one? or does anybody know if gtreiner has them and what part number? I ordered an oil pumpshaft seal from him but I think its the seal that goes on the bottom of the oil pump and not the arm, im not sure because i have not got it yet, how often do these leak? also of course as soon as i get the original airbox mounted after all this time, I will have to take it off! :x to address the oil pump!!! why couldnt this happen when the pods were on!!!! well i just found a thread on this, oops I should have looked first, jomamagt posted the same thing, did anybody find out where you can get this seal? it says in the other thread that the seal is not available from suzuki or gtreiner, so I gues its just going to leak a little, it shouldnt hurt anything other than making a mess.....

If you have a look HERE (clicky) you might more details as it's a tad more specialised with the GT750. (Nothing wrong with the advice on here of course.)
It's a bit busy this weekend due to our 'Club do' in Wales, but lots of info and questions will be answered ASAP.

:) Hi Eddie have the same leak on my "A" model, seems to be leaking around the oil pump arm,so my guess is the seal on this shaft is gone,I haven't had a good look yet,so it could be coming out of the inlet hose, but I doubt it? As for the seals,I think there is one on the rotating centre shaft as well,I'll be taking my pump tp a Bearing Service Shop & get the seals I need there ? 8)

If you find those seals please let us all know. I'm using an O ring on the arm shaft for now but it should be a seal

:? Hi,is it solving the problem for you? Or still leaking?
I haven't had mine off the bike as yet,but when I do it will be getting a good clean & everything that can be replaced will be!! I don't like oil leaks, might be OK on old British bikes, but not on Japanese ?

Cheers,

The O ring solution is holding up on mine but there's not a lot of sealing surface and even the smallest amount of wear or shrinkage and it will leak again.

Has anyone had any luck with a replacement seal for the oil pump lever shaft? Mine has started leaking.
