Hi All
I'm transplanting a GP100C disc front end onto the venerable A100 I have been messing about with.
Not really investigated the m/c until last night when I took the reservoir cap off and saw an unholy amount
of cr@p and brown mess. I clean out what I could and swilled out the reservoir with fresh fluid but only small
dribbles of fluid come out when I pump it (no resistance by the way). I might end up buying
a generic replacement m/c and lever but before that I figured I'd try and clean the guts of it.
Is there a magic circlip at the lever end under the boot ? Strangely the CMSNL diagram doesn't show anything..
and it was getting dark last night when I was fiddling with it

All the best

Re: Cleaning master cylinder
Not sure with your specific M/C but if you remove the boot at the lever end and shine a light, you'll probably find a circlip that's WAY buried in there. You need a pair of long, straight, thin circlip pliers.

Thanks for the reply - Manged to prise out old boot (in a dozen pieces
) and peered down the recess but nothing that look like a circlip. I'm betting though its corroded to b*ggery. Will persevere a little longer..

Re: Cleaning master cylinder
you might find it easier and cheaper to get a new cb400 master cylinder off ebay for £14.50 like this
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Front-Brake-M ... 4170d1bac7
or if you're willingto wait for it to come from china it costs on £12.50
Both come with new lever and brake switch and include postage.

Now you can't expect to get better than that for value for money. It might spoil the originality but it will fit and work fine. I got one on my gt380.

Re: Cleaning master cylinder
Brilliant thanks - think that's what I'll do (new M/C that is)
In daylight I could just make out something that looked a bit like a circlip but really for the money
it doesn't seem worth pursuing further.
Thanks all

Re: Cleaning master cylinder
Glad to be of help. It definitely makes life a lot easier than having to recon the standard one that isn't very good at the best of times so I've been told.
