just for my education can you adjust the pump to lessen smoking? i would like to try that before i split the cases for new seals and new to me trans fourth and fifth gear must be shot howling like a banshee thanks Ron

The pump on the 500 is adjustable...via the threaded adjuster where the cable enters the pump housing. Remove the pump cover, and you will see a small scribe mark on the pump operating arm, part way down on the right side of the arm. At full throttle, this mark should align with a similar mark on the pump body.
