Identifying Front Forks and Master Cylinder on T350

Post by juzdin »

Hello,

Last week I was given a 1971 T350 that was thrown on a garbage pile. Although it is rough I have cleaned up the sticking carbs and got it started.

It is now completely stripped down ready for the frame to be sand blasted.

The master cylinder was siezed when I got it so it will need a rebuild. In order to do that I need to know which rebuild kit to purchase.

I am hoping some one more knowledgeable than I can identify which front end has been put on this T350. I know they didn't come with disc brakes.

I have attached two pictures which I hope will help.

Looks like a GT250 or GT380 front end.

What diameter are the fork tubes?
What is the wheel/tire size?
What is the brake disk OD?

Thanks for your reply.

What diameter are the fork tubes? 1.32inches (33.2mm) approx
What is the wheel/tire size? 3.00 X 18
What is the brake disk OD? 10.8inches (275mm) approx

Do you have any idea about the master cylinder. It looks to be from a GT380?

The GT250 & GT380 shared a lot of parts.

The forks could have been from either.
Early model year forks had boots & later years had dust seals. But the PO might have used dust seals on early forks. (I don't know if this is possible or not.)

The master cylinder looks like the one on my GT250K.
Also, brake line for my GT250K has a metal tube at the caliper. Don't think the later models had the metal tube.

The brake disk also looks like the one on my GT250K. But the GT250 & GT380 used the same disk.

The GT250 & GT380 have different front rims/tires.
GT250 front tire is 3x18.
GT380 front tire is 3x19.

Are you sure that is a 1971 T350? Certainly the front end is from a GT250/380 but the cylinder fins are straight and a 71 350 should have angled fins.

Am surprised I missed that. My avatar pic is a 71 T350.

The cylinder head for the 69 & 70 models has straight fins. They're angled on the 71 & 72 models.
Side covers & oil tank also differed.

Check the VINs for frame & motor to figure out what model year you have.
VINs for 71 & 72 models are here: http://www.ozebook.com/compendium/suzi/ ... /page1.gif

Thanks for your help joethebike and jabcb.

Had a chance to check the frame and engine and the number is 20568 and it is a T-350 II.

After checking google that would make it a 70 model.

Still not sure about what the front end is exactly which is a pain.

Took the master cylinder to a Suzuki dealer. They didnt know exactly what type it was so they ordered what they thought it was. Fingers crossed its correct.
