GT 550 just purchased and need help with restoration

Post by mally »

Hi just purchased a 12/75 production GT 550 iv not restored one of these before only a few Yamahas so any help would be gratefully accepted
im in the good old UK close to Leyburn in North Yorks so if there is anyone on site close who wants a brew and a chat let me know

ok its frame no 65306 and motor no 68465 colour unknown as its painted black non standard i can assure you but rest of bike is very very good
3400 miles on clocks and bike looks like it as well so no doubting the mileage
i need to find the origional colour choices for this model and where can i purchase some paint for the repsray
and is there a place for recon or new side and tank badges (or can you get the candy orange paint for side badges)

pictures to follow when i can and any help gratefully received

Cheers Malc

For colour options (yours is a 1976 A model), a good site to check is at this link:

http://www.suzukicycles.org/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I can give you the original colour codes, but its useless information as there are no cross references to modern paint choices so it doesn't really help. As for badges and decals etc., you have several options - take a look at these links:

http://www.sunrisegraphics.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://www.reproductiondecals.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

and

http://www.badgereplicas.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
