750J Petcock Diaphragm munted - Options?
I've just disassembled the petcock off of my J model Buffalo. The diaphragm looks like it is toast. Both sides of the black material were stuck to the metal housing and have come adrift from the central part.
Can I get a replacement one from somewhere still? Does anyone have a good one they wish to part with? Any advice gratefully recieved.
What's the best way to get the crystallised petrol out of the crevices and make her shiny again?
Ta, Mike
P.S. Merry Christmas to you all from the bottom of the world. We get there first! The weather is also bright and sunny (sorry you guys in the Northern Hemisphere)

Using one of those ultrasonic cleaners available from Harbor Freight or you could boil it in vinegar which is what I did with great results.

Hi Terry,
Here's a couple of shots of the J model petcock - front and back.

Thanks for looking. Hope you have had a nice Christmas. We've had a fun day here (its Boxing Day and we've had about five earthquakes (4 - 5 magnitude)

I`m sorry to revive a old thread but did you ever find the diaphragms? I need the same one for my 72 gt550. Anybody?

Re: 750J Petcock Diaphragm munted - Options?
Couldn't source a diaphragm from either Suzuki or Kawasaki. Managed to get a second hand one from a mate, which was a great improvement. Then, found out that I was missing the really small o-ring. Replaced that and problem solved - after replacing and cleaning just about everything else though

Correct - call up one of the on-line parts fiches for a 1971 H1 fuel tank and take a look at the parts listings for the petcock. Depending on your location, your Kawasaki dealer may not be able to get them but it is worth a try.BlkY2k wrote:I thought I read somewhere that 69-72 h1 used the same one is that the case?

Re: 750J Petcock Diaphragm munted - Options?
I googled the part# and started calling every name on there. There was a listing for some place in sweden but my swedish isnt up to par so. $92 ouch and its on its way. Yeh Saginaw is in a few songs over the years. Not sure why, theres nothing here anymore, we were a GM town, but with the collapse of the auto industry its a ghost town now.
